week 36

average size: 17.2 to 18.7 inches, 4.2 to 5.8 lbs.
what's going on with baby: "Your due date is just four weeks away. Hasn’t time flown? Your once-poppy seed would probably be able to breathe on her own if she was born right now. (If not, she’d probably need some TLC, but she’d likely be okay.) Most of her systems are in working order at 36 weeks. Since baby really could decide to make her arrival any day now, try to put in a little prep work."

so that's exactly what i did! i prepped some frozen meals for after she arrives!

my goal for all the frozen meal cooking was basically, "crock pot", or "ready to just pop in the oven". i figure, after she comes, i probably won't want to do a lot of cleaning up after dinners (or cooking), so these are definitely the easiest!

RECIPES:

i loosely made the teriyaki chicken, healthy bbq chicken, and stephanie's beef goulash/stew, at this link (added in some more spices, and veggies into the bags too):

apple/cherry pork loin at this link:

and then i made 2 meatloafs (my mom's recipe), 2 huge lasagnas, and we bought some frozen pizzas too.

here is a lot of the stuff i used for the bagged meals!

first, i got out a bunch of freezer bags, labeled them, and wrote down cooking directions too

then i sat down and chopped all the stuff each bag needed and plopped it in!

then i flattened them out so that once they were put into the freezer and froze, it would be easier to move them around

here are the two meatloafs!

working on the lasagnas...i made one zucchini/onion/and ricotta...

and this one is asparagus/onion/and ricotta :) YUM!

oh, and shredded cheese mixed in both as well obviously ;)

here is our freezer fully stocked!

let me tell you...i feel so accomplished looking at this photo! there are 18 meals in there, but really, each "meal" will probably end up being 2 meals for us since it's just erik and i. totally ready for when remi arrives! i know things will be chaotic for a while once we get home from the hospital, so just picking a meal and tossing it into the slow cooker or oven sounds wonderful to me!

what else...erik is done with med school for the year now! YAY!!!! he took his last final on friday so now he has about a month off until remi gets here. really thankful for that! it will be nice to have some time for him and i before we turn into a family of 3 :) mostly everything is done "baby-prep-wise", but we can still do fun things like set up the play yard, or whatever lol...it's just nice his stress level is much, much lower now that school is done and he and i have some time to hang out :)

oh! and it's week 36! so that means a new bump photo!!!

from here on out, i'll take a new one each week since we're getting so close. not sure how much it will change week-by-week, but i figured, why not? also...really weird, but about 1-2 months before remi was even conceived, i had a dream i gave birth on june 12th! that's tomorrow!!! hahaha...so i guess we'll see if my dream is right or not! hopefully it won't come true because it would be a bit too early for her to arrive, but it was a weird dream!

  1. Hi Jacqui- I LOVE your organization. The recipes look great, and I bet those freezer meals will come in handy when you have Remi. It'll be nice not to have to rely on takeout food and have homecooked hot food at home!

Tell Erik congrats on finishing med school!!!! :) Just a few more week!!!!

  3. I had high hopes for the first crock pot recipes you listed... but they kinda fall short on flavor. They are edible, but I still have about 3-4 bags in the freezer that I really don't want to cook, cause I know I could throw something together in 20 minutes that tastes better. Let me know how the rest taste.
