week 35

average size: 17.2 to 18.7 inches, 4.2 to 5.8 lbs.
what's going on with baby: "From here on out, she won't get much longer, but she's plumping up, and she'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth. Now, her hearing is fully developed, and she responds best to high-pitched noises."

well, it's about that time! time to pack the hospital bag!!!

i was told that i should do this about a month before my due date because babies can sometimes come early, so here we go! after doing a lot of research, here is what i decided to pack in our hospital bag...

for remi:
our hospital said to bring 2 outfits. one for going home in, and one for professional photos since they have a photographer at the hospital. i chose the onesie in the middle for the photos (says "made with love" on the front of it) to go with the headband above it, and then the cute kitty outfit on the right for her going home one. the onesie in the middle was actually a free gift from destination maternity, and the kitty outfit is from my wonderful cousin in germany! :D i also packed a sleep gown (on the left) in case she gets cold at night (and for easy diaper changes), some cute socks, protective mittens for her hands, and a receiving blanket.

for me:
i packed a robe (upper left) in case i get cold, warm socks (again, i was advised to bring these because everyone keeps saying how cold it can get in hospitals), a comfy sleeping nursing bra, a nursing tanktop, and comfy pants. who knows, maybe i'll just stay in the hospital gown the entire time (i know the nurses will need to do a bajillion checks on me during the time we're staying there), but i wanted to pack a few things i thought could be useful.

for erik:
he is the easiest hahaha...a shirt, some warm socks, and some comfy pants. oh, and of course underwear for both of us too haha...

health/beauty products:
i packed a bag of bathroom stuff too. in this bag, i have breast pads, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodarent, advil/excedrine (in case erik gets a headache), lanolin, hairbrush/ties, a little makeup, prenatal vitamins, travel size bodywash/shampoo bottles, contact case/glasses/eye solution, and two 5 hour energies in case erik needs one for the drive home or something haha...

information for the hospital:
i wanted to pre-register at our hospital so we didn't have to do it all once we got there, so i have this folder of info to give them, and i also will place in my birth plan, and that little scrap piece of pink cardstock paper is for the nurses to hopefully do an extra set of footprints for us to take home. i'd like to cut it out and add it to her scrapbook, so i'm hoping that while they are doing her footprints for their hospital records, they will also just do a quick one for us too ;) worth a shot, right?

there are also some things that we just can't pack yet since we use them all the time, but i'll list them here because they might help someone in the future when they make their own hospital bag list! :)

- charged camera, extra batteries/memory cards, and charger
- cell phones/chargers
- snacks for erik (we're thinking something like cereal bars right now)
- both of our laptops/chargers
- my wallet (which will include my health insurance card and ID)
- chapstick (SO many girls say if you only remember one thing, make sure it's chapstick!!! they all claim to get really dry lips while in the hospital).

and that's it! some people also bring their boppy, but i decided to leave ours home. i'll just use hospital pillows while we're there. i dunno...something about bringing our boppy to the hospital, then back home sort of grosses me out lol...

another week closer, and another big check off the list! :D woo!

  1. I cant believe you are so close!!!!

DEF DEF chapstick!! I had a nightgown and shorts on the whole time! I also left Bre in the hospital shirt until we went home...she was swaddled a lot & much easier to change diapers

I would also take slippers or something you can walk in in-case you have to do laps to get your LO moving

We didn't use laptops cause it was so quick but def don't forget cell phone chargers!!

Also I took my own pillow...hospital ones are so thin.

Im so excited another Knottie baby will be here soon

  2. I would pack two more onsies for remi and maybe some swaddling blankets. I only brought moeys outfit for coming home in, and she broke out in a rash from the hospital shirts and blankets bc of the harsh detergent they use. My mom ran back home to get more onsies, so it was all good!! just in case she has sensitive skin :) I say two or more....just in case she is a good popper, like Moey was. that breast milk really helps things move along! haha :)

  4. I would still take the boppy. You can always take the cover off and wash it once you get home. Hospital pillows suck.

The nurses should do another set of footprints for you. My baby book had a spot in it and they did it for me.

GOOD LUCK! I hope that everything goes smoothly!

  7. The only thing I could add from watching moms youtube videos is more clothes for erik! So many women say they thought they'd leave earlier, but didn't have enough changes for "dad"...
